New update in FASTag app, now balance status will be seen

The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has added a new feature to the Fastag app (FASTag). With its help, users will be able to get the balance status in the app. NHAI has said in the statement that since Fastag has become mandatory for every vehicle from 1 January, NHAI has updated the Fastag app with the ‘Check Balance Status’ feature to ensure smooth implementation of this change. To know how much balance is left in Fastag, the user will have to enter the vehicle number in the app.

The statement said that this new feature is helpful for toll operators as well as those who pass through the highway. Both users will be able to check the balance status of Fastag on the rear time basis and disputes related to it will be resolved. The statement said that the new feature has been introduced so that the user fees can be paid on the toll plaza through Fastag and the waiting time can be reduced. This will not only save time and fuel, but will also result in free movement of vehicles.

Apart from this, the authority has also reduced the refresh time limit of blacklisted tags. This limit has been reduced from the current 10 minutes to 3 minutes. The motive behind this is that there can be faster updation of status in the electronic toll collection system and fresh status can be seen in the app.

My Fastag app shows the status of the Fastag wallet balance as color codes. Green color code for active tags with adequate balance, Orange / Amber color code for low balance tags and Red color code for blacklisted tags has been fixed. In case of Orange status, the vehicle user can quickly recharge Fastag from the mobile app or can avail the instant recharge facility at the toll plaza point of sale (POS). 40,000 POSes have been installed at toll plazas across the country in partnership with 26 banks.
