Online e-commerce platform- Meesho has recorded a surge of around 80 per cent in their business sales amounting to over 87.6 lakh orders on the opening day of the festive season special sale.

As the platform offers affordable lifestyle items; the majority of the sales are from Tier 2, 3 and 4 cities leading to about 85 per cent of order placements on the first day itself as shared by the Meesho team.

This is the brands flagship festive event called the Meesho Mega Blockbuster Sale. This is the first time when Meesho has seen these many orders recorded in just one day – which is about 80 per cent higher as compared to last year.

Meesho shared some regions where they received the maximum order from. It had customers from the far of cities of the country like Jamnagar, Alappuzha, Chhindwara, Davengere, Hassan, Gopalganj, Guwahati, Siwan, Thanjavur and Ambikapur.

Another important reason behind the great is response is due to the huge line of products that are being offered at a discount price like never before.

Fashion, beauty & personal care, home & kitchen, and electronic accessories were the top-selling categories on day one, while consumers bought everything from sarees to analogue watches, jewellery sets, mobile cases and covers, Bluetooth headphones, choppers and peelers in record volumes to fulfil their festive shopping aspirations, the company said.

As per company data about 85 per cent of customer orders and tentatively 75 percent of the demand coming from regional cities and beyond, Meesho is hopeful that it reaches the desired impact in the nuke and corners of India.

The homegrown brand is committed to the customers as well as their employees. Post the sale days, Meesho has announced an 11 day break for its employees as part of the mental and physical wellbeing initiative.
