BusinessInteresting! Landlord in Bengaluru invests in tenant's AI startup

Date:

We read many shocking stories of renting in Bengaluru that seems to have come on social media in recent times. However, this chat conversation between a tenant and his landlord has won many hearts on social media. Betterhalf.ai’s co-founder and CEO Mr. Pawan Gupta recently revealed how his landlord invested $10,000, which is Rs 8.2 lakh approximately in his startup.

Protests need to be held in Bengaluru like Delhi: Rakesh Tikait

Pawan wrote a message on the micro-blogging site Twitter that read:

In a tough business landscape, I found an unexpected investor in my landlord. He recently invested $10K in my startup

@betterhalfai

Truly amazed by the entrepreneurial spirit everyone in Bangalore shows. Silicon Valley of India for a reason.

Along with the message was his WhatsApp conversation with his landlord without revealing his name and details. However, a media report says that the landlord’s name is Sushil who later confirmed that he had invested in the AI-driven matrimonial app an amount of $10,000. In the comments section, Pawan received many congratulatory messages for the surprising investment.

Modi to communicate with startups tomorrow

Betterhalf.ai is the country’s matrimony app without the involvement of parents. It is reportedly the first and only marriage super app in India that is providing complete wedding-related products to urban Indians who are the primary decision-makers for their marriage. The app has products such as matchmaking, courtship, and wedding and focuses on the audience of high-income and urban-working professionals who live in 30 tier-1 cities in India.

Betterhalf app can be downloaded both on Android and iOS and people only with genuine and government ID-verified profiles can connect with others. Pawan Gupta and Rahul Namdev who were MIT alumnus are the co-founders of the Betterhalf app. They co-founded the app in 2016 from their own personal experiences of finding it difficult to get the right life partners. The AI-driven app tries to solve the problem by making only compatible matches meet with whom they can spend a fulfilling and rewarding marital life.

Betterhalf.ai is a matrimony app that has more than 15 lakh users and achieves 2 lakh new connections every month. The app has made 10,000 weddings possible since its set-up in 2016. In 2021, the company’s overall revenue crossed INR 5.5 crores and has been witnessing stable growth since then.

Some of the features of the app include finding your marriage’s partner by religion, caste, mother tongue, marital status, and location i.e. state and city. The app provides access to compatible matrimonial profiles only with real-time selfies and verified government identity proofs.

In recent times, AI has been powering many startups to grow and achieve things that seem to be impossible in the past. Artificial Intelligence is indeed a useful tool only if it is in the right hands. There are many disadvantages of AI-driven technologies that only humans with their values, humanity-based approaches can control the negative effects on the society and world at large.

We hope that more such people like landlord Sushil extend their financial support to upcoming startups and create more employment opportunities for the existing generations and coming ones.
