The data centre infrastructure in India will attract systematic investment, which will create approximately 1,31,700 full-time equivalent (FTE) jobs in Indian businesses every year, said Amazon Web Services (AWS), which is Amazon’s cloud computing unit in a media release.

The new job positions will include construction, facility maintenance, engineering, telecommunications, and various other jobs as part of the data centre supply chain in the country.

AWS also mentioned how its investment in India will meet the local economy’s requirements in areas like workforce development, training, skilling opportunities, community engagement, and sustainability campaigns.

AWS Asia Pacific (Mumbai) Region introduced in 2016 and AWS Asia Pacific (Hyderabad) Region launched in 2022 are the company’s two data centre infrastructure regions in the country. The company said that the 2 AWS regions are created to give the customers of India different options to run their workloads with good availability and resilience power, good security system for their data, and serve end-users with low latency.

The new investment will allow the company to build more data centers and expand AWS’s network of edge locations in India. It will also help AWS to continue to grow its business in India and support the country’s economic development.
