New Delhi: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman gave detailed information on the second phase of the Rs 20 lakh crore economic package announced on Tuesday (May 12) by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Earlier, the Finance Minister had made several big announcements for the MSME sector on Wednesday.
Nirmala Sitharaman announced the One Nation One Ration Card Scheme during the press conference on Thursday. She said, “There will be work on the scheme of One Nation One Ration Card, which will be applicable in every state. The migrant can take ration from the ration depot of any state with the help of this card.”
“67 crore ration card holders in 23 states (which constitute 83% of the total PDS population) will be covered under National Portability by August 2020 and 100% National Portability will be achieved before March 2021,” he said.
In the year 2019, the central government implemented the pilot project of ‘One Nation, One Ration Card’ scheme in four states. Under this scheme, any citizen residing in the country will have only one ration card and along with that he will be staying wherever he is available. After this, from January 1, 2020, One Nation, One Ration Card Scheme was implemented in 12 states. These include Madhya Pradesh, Goa, Tripura, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Kerala, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Telangana.
