New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed a new chargesheet to nab fugitive businessman Mehul Choksi involved in the PNB scam. The chargesheet describes how Mehul Chauksi was running a racket by selling fake diamonds and properties to cheat his consumers and his lenders and financial institutions in India, Dubai and America.
The ED’s charge sheet includes statements from top executives of some companies in the US, UAE, Hong Kong and India. These include how the attentive companies own M / s Shanyo Gong Si Limited (Hong Kong) and M / s Voyager Brands and M / s Samuel Jewelers Inc. (US) used to sell diamonds prepared in the lab as real diamonds. These diamonds were made in his factory in Surat. These diamonds looked like real diamonds in size, quality and color.
According to the reports, the charge sheet even states that Mehul Choksi told his staff in Hong Kong in December 2017 that the coming days would be difficult for his company – Gitanjali. He had feared that there would be forensic audits on the company. In such a situation, Mehul Choksi advised his employees not to go to India. The CBI started an investigation in the PNB fraud case on 31 January 2018.
