New Delhi: The disinvestment target for the current financial year has been kept at Rs 1.75 lakh crore. To achieve this, the government is planning to disinvest in 10 more public sector undertakings. For this, the path of complete privatization can be adopted or the government will keep its stake in it under the minimum public shareholding norms.
According to a report, Niti Aayog and DIPAM, responsible for disinvestment, will prepare a roadmap on this subject. According to the information, 7 public sector undertakings – NLC, KIOCL, SJVN, HUDCO, MMTC, GIC and New India Insurance have been discussed. It is believed that between the financial year 2021-22 to the financial year 2023-24, the government will move towards disinvestment with three more PSUs. For this the names of IRFC, RVNL and Mazagon Dock are coming out. In these three government companies, the government will reduce its stake to the minimum.
Under the SEBI rules, it is necessary for public sector companies to have a minimum public shareholding of 25 percent. At present, there are 19 PSUs where there is scope for the government. Explain that the government had implemented a new PSE policy on 4 February 2021 to accelerate the process of privatization and disinvestment. Under this, public sector undertakings are divided into strategic and non-strategic categories.
According to the government’s plan, it will keep its stake in the strategically important sector to a minimum. Apart from this, for the non-strategic sector, it will proceed on the path of privatization and disinvestment.
