Despite many controversies, trolling, and criticism, Indian actor Prabhas‘ new movie Adipurush has created a storm at the worldwide box office by collecting Rs 340 crore gross in its first weekend. Directed by Om Raut, Adipurush was released in theatres on 16 June 2023 all over the world. The film was shot simultaneously in Hindi and Telugu languages and it was also dubbed in various other Indian languages. The film featured Prabhas and Kriti Sanon in key roles.

However, as soon as the film hit the theatres, it received a lot of backlash from various sections of society, including the media, the common public, and famous critics. Nevertheless, they all only gave the film more publicity as the film made huge collections at the Indian and global box office. Producer T-Series shared on social media on day 3 after the film’s release, “Adipurush continues to captivate audiences across generations, crossing an astounding ₹340 crores on the opening weekend at the box office! Jai Shri Ram 🙏.”

Adipurush has now become the second film in India after Pathaan to mint more than Rs 300 crores in 3 days of its release in 2023. Pathaan earned Rs 313 crore gross at the global box office as it featured Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham in important roles. The film also marked Shah Rukh’s comeback to Bollywood in the full-length lead role after his 2018 flop movie release Zero.

Adipurush was panned for its storyline, VFX, and deviating from the original story of Ramayana. Moreover, certain dialogues of the film wherein Hanuman’s character talks in the local Hindi language didn’t go too well with the audience and critics alike. The film continues to get negative publicity and many call it an epic disappointment and failure to depict the original Ramayan. Director Om Raut and dialogue writer Manoj Muntashir Shukla also clarified that he didn’t mention those five lines of dialogue being heaving criticized among the 4000 lines in Adipurush to hurt any sentiments.

He took to social media to share how he can give countless arguments in favor of his dialogue writing skills but it will reduce the audience’s pain. The producer-director and he have decided to revise those dialogues and add the new ones to the film by this week. He also had earlier shared how Adipurush is not completely Ramayana but only inspired by the epic book.

T Series also shared with the media that Team Adipurush plans to work on the public feedback and will be revising the dialogues in order to provide a unified film experience. The dialogues are going to be changed as per the guidelines and consultations of CBFC.

The film also received huge backlash on the internet last year when it released its first teasers. People compared the film with that of foreign movies and shared how it just doesn’t fit with the Ramayana written originally by Valmiki. The looks and dresses of the entire cast were also reviewed negatively wherein people called Ravana to be wearing a beardo looks in T-shirts while fighting in some scenes. The film is made on a budget of Rs 500 crore and also has Sunny Singh and Devdatta Nage in vital roles.
