Amit Shah launches ‘Single Window Clearance System’ for coal mines sector

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday launched the ‘Single Window Clearance System’ for smooth and transparent operationalisation of coal mines.

Speaking at the function, he said that the Coal sector has the potential to be the biggest contributor towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of making India a five trillion dollar economy by 2024.

‘The production of coal in the country has increased manifold in the last six years and has the potential to boost Prime Minister’s idea of Atmanirbhar Bharat,’ Mr Shah said.

Describing about a series of path-breaking reforms introduced by the NDA government in last six years, Mr Shah said impediments in the coal sector which included transparency and including ease of doing business have been addressed.

‘Today 19 successful bidders have been allotted mines under the country’s first commercial coal mining auction. This will give the states an estimated revenue of about Rs 6,500 crore per year and will also create more than 70,000 jobs,’ Mr Shah said.

The Home Minister also urged the mining companies to spur coal production so that the dependency on coal imports could be reduced further and energy demands of emerging sectors could be met.
