Washington: After India, the US is set to ban several Chinese apps, including TikTok. According to the news agency Reuters, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has said that the United States is preparing to ban several Chinese social media apps, including TikTok, and will certainly do so.
Mike Pompeo told Fox News, “I don’t want to show all this to the president, but this (app) is something we’re considering.”
US lawmakers have expressed concern about national security over TikTok users’ data. He says they are concerned about the need for Chinese companies to “support and cooperate with intelligence work controlled by the Chinese Communist Party”.
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has welcomed India’s ban of 59 Chinese apps. According to the agency, other technology companies, including Facebook, are also expanding their business in Hong Kong.
