Are you going to watch a movie in a cinema hall or home theatre?

As the cases of COVID-19 infections are dropping considerably in all parts of the country, various state governments have come up with new rules for October 2021. Some states like Maharashtra, Karnataka are going to reopen theatres and cinema halls from 22nd October 2021 with the insistence to follow the COVID-19 guidelines and protocols as a necessity to curb the spread of the virus.

Many filmmakers are planning the releases of their most-awaited movies of the year to be in theatres in the months of October end, November, and December 2021 as it will not push their release dates further. With many big projects like 83, Antim, Sooryavanshi, Laal Singh Chaddha of the top actors are in pipeline, it will be interesting to see what movie buffs plan to do in the coming months.

Will movie buffs take that risk in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic and show their movie mania to the world by visiting theatres with their friends and families? Or will they prefer to watch these movies when they get an OTT or television release? Will we be seeing major footfalls and lines for movie tickets to watch these big-budget movies in the theatre and cinema halls or will the footfall be average because the anxiety of contracting the virus despite the vaccination or no vaccination will make people drop the idea to just wait and watch this year as well?

Now, answers to all these questions of movie buffs’ behavior would be analyzed only when the theatres reopened, movies get released, promotional activities happen, and box office records set in. It will be really like a cricket match between the movies and the audiences of which the results can be declared on who wins only after the release.
