With the aggressive push for green vehicles and lack of resources, the government is taking many initiatives to encourage people to consider electric vehicles and switch to them as soon as possible. With the same thought, the Uttar Pradesh government has announced a new Manufacturing and Mobility policy 2022, which offers all-electric vehicles like bikes, scooters, three-wheelers, and cars at a highly subsidized rate. Under this new policy, the UP government is going to offer subsidies of up to Rs 1 lakh on electric cars for the coming three years.
UP’s Manufacturing and Mobility government policy covers all kinds of electric vehicles – private and commercial. Electric bikes and scooters will enjoy subsidies of 15 percent up to Rs 5,000. For electric three-wheelers, the government has decided on a subsidy of 15 percent or up to Rs 12,000.
To further reinforce the adoption of the EV technology, the UP govt plans to waive off the registration fee and road tax for a period of three years from the date of the notification.
In the case of Electric commercial vehicles, the government is ready to offer a subsidy of 15 percent up to Rs 20 lakh on electric buses.
In order to promote electric vehicle and battery manufacturing in the state, the ones who agree to set up their facilities in UP will also get 100 percent stamp duty reimbursement. To develop charging and battery-swapping infrastructure in the state, the UP government will lease land for ten years.
