New Delhi: After the violence in Delhi over the amended Citizenship Act (CAA), the situation in Meghalaya is deteriorating now. The clash between KSU members and non-tribals occurred during a meeting on CAA and Inner Line Permit (ILP) in East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya. According to the latest information, the curfew imposed in Shillong has been removed, but internet services are being banned in six districts. Officials said that even after curfew was over, most shops and business establishments in the city remained closed.

Officials said that during the meeting held in support of the anti-CAA and the ILP, there was a clash between the Khasi Students Union members and non-tribals. He said curfew was imposed in Shillong and surrounding areas after the clashes and 48 hours from Friday night in the six districts of the state, East Jaintia Hills, West Jaintia Hills, East Khasi Hills, Ri Bhoi, East Khasi Hills and South West Khasi Hills. Mobile Internet services were suspended for. Officials said that the limit of sending SMS has been given up to five per day.

Meghalaya Governor Tathagata Roy has appealed to the people to remain calm and ignore the rumors. He said in a statement, “I appeal to all the citizens, tribals or non-tribals in Meghalaya to remain calm. Do not spread rumors and ignore them. The Chief Minister has spoken to me. They have assured me to take necessary steps. The biggest need now is to maintain law and order. ”
