Banda: A man violated his minor niece, sister’s daughter, in Banda district on August 14, the police said on Saturday. The girl came to her maternal grandparents’ house to celebrate Rakshabandhan, but her maternal uncle allegedly raped her. The incident came to light after her family members lodged a complaint at the Khanna police station in Banda. On the grounds of the complaint, the police registered a case against the accused who violated the minor as well as assaulted her, the police said.

According to the station house officer, the girl alleged her maternal uncle had threatened to kill her if she disclosed it to anyone. In the complaint, the girl said that she had gone to the house of her maternal grandparents’ house in Banda to celebrate Rakshabandhan, but on the night of August 14, when she was alone in the terrace, her uncle raped her. The girl narrated her tale of woes to her parents when she returned home. The girl was sent to a government hospital for a medical check-up. The accused is absconding.
