Former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir Farooq Abdullah said that the Congress had faced such setbacks in the past and emerged stronger. Therefore, there is nothing new in such resignations.

Congress leader and a member of G-23 Manish Dikshit said that it was unfortunate that Azad had resigned from the party. G-23 is for reform but not for revolt, Dikshit said.

Leader of the National Conference Omar Abdullah described Azad’s resignation as a body blow to the party. It was “sad” and “scarry” to see the grand old party in disarray.
