Lucknow: Joint opposition candidate for the ensuing Presidential elections Yashwant Sinha has got the support of the Samajwadi Party (SP). President of SP Akhilesh Yadav held a meeting with the party MPs and legislators on Friday and asked them to sign the forms, proposing the name of Sinha for the top post.

Yadav urged the party leaders not to try to break the opposition unity, especially in view of the developments in Maharashtra. According to the party spokesman, being the opposition candidate, Sinha would get unanimous support of the legislators and MPs of the SP. In May, Yadav announced that he would support the candidate whose name would be finalised by Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee.
