Guwahati: A man forced his two children to consume poison at his residence in Sivsagar town of Assam and after that he too took venom on Wednesday, an official said on Monday. The man has been identified as Mridul Handique, a resident of Bogidole area, Sivsagar town. When the neighbours rushed Hindique and his two children to hospital where he and his six-year-old son died. The other child of Handique who is ten years old is in a critical condition, doctors at the hospital said.

According to police, the man took the extreme step because of some issues with his wife. His wife and daughters have been living separately for several years now and a family dispute may have been the reason for the incident.
