Mau: The Mau district administration in Uttar Pradesh attached a plot of land of a close aide of Mukhtar Ansari, mafia-turned-politician, who is currently in jail, sources said on Thursday. The cost of the property is worth Rs 83 lakh.
According to district magistrate Arun Kumar, orders were issued to attach the properties of Anand Yadav, said to be close to Ansari. He further said that the land had been bought with the money earned through criminal activities.

Meanwhile, a special court, handling the cases related to law-makers, both Members of Parliament and members of legislative assembly, turned down the application of Ansar and his sons, pleading for clean chit in an evacuee property case. Sources in the court said that the case would be heard on August when charges would be framed against them.
