In the run-up to the assembly elections, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will address a virtual rally in Punjab on January 27.
A party leader said Rahul will be greeted by party candidates in Amritsar before heading to Jalandhar to address the gathering, which will be broadcast live on all social media platforms. The state unit and its social media cell are putting together a two-way link in 22 districts so that party workers and leaders can see his speech.
The candidates for the Congress are also preparing for a live telecast of the digital rally in their respective districts.
So far, the party has announced candidates for 86 of the state’s 117 assembly seats. Candidates for the remaining 31 seats, which have been delayed due to a lack of agreement among state leaders on half of them, are scheduled to be named in the next day or two.

Rahul had planned to kick off the party’s campaign with a public meeting in Moga on January 3, and some party leaders, including cabinet ministers, had already visited the district to choose a rally location. The public meeting, however, was later cancelled.
