Washington: Thomas Bach, president of the International Olympic Committee, said it would be “early” to postpone the Tokyo Olympic Games but acknowledged that different scenarios are being considered in the wake of the Corona virus epidemic. Bach told the New York Times that the IOC would follow the advice of its workforce and the World Health Organization.
He hoped that the Tokyo Olympics would take place from 24 July to 9 August. He said that there is no question of canceling the games.
He said, “We are considering different scenarios but there is still four and a half months left in the Olympics. It is too early to postpone the games. So far we have not received any suggestion from the workforce. “
The epidemic has also fallen on Olympic qualifiers and so far the percentage of players have not achieved the Olympic quota. However, Bak said that the situation was so uncertain that Tokyo could not be decided yet.
“We don’t know how long it will last but we want the Olympic torch to be lit at the end of this tunnel,” he said.
