Ellyse Perry responds to Murali’s comment regarding ‘dinner date’ with her

Out of favour India batsman, Murali Vijay, grabbed the headlines when he recently named the Aussie wonder Ellyse Perry as one of the two people he would like to go out on dinner with as part of an interview during isolation from the coronavirus crisis.

The former Indian opener was taking part in an interview held by the Chennai Super Kings, his Indian Premier League franchise, and answered a range of questions about cricket and isolation.

But the answer that raised the most eyebrows was when the 36-year-old was asked the two cricketers he would like to go for dinner.

While it was no surprise, he picked teammate and friend, Shikhar Dhawan, picking the Australian women star Perry caught the attention of fans.

“Ellyse Perry. I want to have dinner with her. She is so beautiful. And Shikhar Dhawan any day. He is a fun guy. Just that he will speak Hindi and I will be conversing in Tamil,” he had said.

Also, netizens brutally trolled Murali Vijay for his words as Perry is married to Rugby star Matt Toomua since 2015.

On Sunday (May 2), during an Instagram Live session with TV presenter Ridhima Pathak, Perry finally responded to Vijay’s comment.

Perry – unknown about the earlier story – was told about Vijay’s desire to go out on a dinner date with her after the lockdown by Ridhima.

Perry hilariously replied: “I hope he’s paying.”

“That’s very kind of him. I’m flattered,” the 29-year-old added.

Perry, meanwhile, believes that the Australian women’s team could be the first side to resume cricket.
