England – Pakistan may increase number of matches in Test series

London: Pakistan’s cricket team can play a series of four or five Test matches instead of three on a tour of England. Officials of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) will hold a video conference on 18 May to continue the tour despite the covid 19 pandemic.

PCB sources said, “As per the current schedule, Pakistan has to play three Tests and three T20 Internationals in the England tour but if the tour starts a little earlier in July, then the number of Test matches can be increased.”

Sources said the ECB may propose a series of four or five Test matches if the West Indies are unable to tour England. The meeting between the two board officials will be held on May 18 to discuss topics such as when the Pakistani team is on their stay when they reach England in July, hosting matches at limited match venues and playing on empty stadiums.

PCB CEO Wasim Khan confirmed the video conference but said the ECB has not talked about increasing the number of matches in the tour to be held from July to September. Khan said, “Things will be clear only after the meeting but we will take a final decision only after consulting our captains and coaches.”
