New Delhi: Prithvi Shaw is showing no signs of improvement. Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar has opposed him. Gavaskar’s comments came after Shaw failed in the second innings of the Adelaide Test. After being dismissed in the first innings, the youngsters were able to score just 4 runs in the second innings. The way he got out is a matter of concern. In both innings, he was bowled. Shaw’s position in the playing XI for the first Test was being questioned and the opener has only spoiled things for himself, but also forced the team management to think ahead.
Shubman Gill was being supported to start the innings with Mayank Agarwal replacing Shaw. While Shaw saw the batting conditions, Gill looked more calm. Gill, who is yet to make his Test debut. During practice matches Shubman Gill scored 0, 29, 43 and 65. On the other hand, Shaw recorded scores of 0, 19, 40 and 3. Team India, however, went with Shaw for the Adelaide Test as they gave the young player another chance to prove himself. However, Shaw has missed both the chances and Sunil Gavaskar has asked him out. According to cricket journalist Vikrant Gupta, Gavaskar has said that Shaw has a technical problem and that he should not play the next Test.
In his tweet, Gupta also said that Gavaskar wants Gill to start the innings. He wrote- Prithvi Shaw has technical problems, he should be dropped in the next test. Sunny Bhai wants that if Shubman opens for his state Punjab then he can do it here too.
