India can withdraw from Asia Cup

New Delhi: Due to the worldwide epidemic corona virus, many big cricket tournaments in 2020 had to be postponed, including the Asia Cup to be played between Asian teams. The tournament was hosted by Pakistan but in view of the growing outbreak of the epidemic, it was decided to postpone it till 2021, with the hosting being handed over to Sri Lanka instead of Pakistan. However, there are reports now that India can withdraw its name from this tournament played in the month of May in 2021.

In fact, the final match of the ICC World Test Championship, being organized by the ICC with the intention of increasing the popularity of Test cricket, is also to be played at the same time for which the Asia Cup 2021 has been proposed, given that India is preparing to withdraw from the Asia Cup.

Currently, teams from India, Australia and New Zealand are the biggest contenders among the teams that have reached the finals of this competition, given that the BCCI is preferring to play in this tournament of ICC instead of Asia Cup.
