Ganguly refuses to enter party politics, will not campaign for BJP

Kolkata: Former Indian captain and BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has refused to go into politics. There was speculation about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally in Kolkata to be held on March 7 in Kolkata, Ganguly will join the party. in fact Ganguly will not even campaign for BJP in Bengal.

Explain that BJP is looking for a strong face in Bengal. The BJP was expecting Sourav Ganguly for this. Top BJP leaders were calling Ganguly the ‘face of Bengal’.

Sources close to Ganguly said, “Though he has recovered, he is not under any circumstances for widespread publicity. His family is completely against taking risks.”

After his meeting with Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar and several meetings with Home Minister Amit Shah, there was speculation that he would join the BJP. Amit Shah’s son Jai Shah is the secretary of BCCI. With strong support from the governed state boards, Ganguly became the president of the BCCI and had a good relationship with Jai Shah. Supporting the BCCI president was part of the plan to woo Ganguly.
