WTC final: India has more match winners

LONDON: Former Australia captain Ian Chappell says the Indian bowling attack will do better in the World Test Championship (WTC) final as they are more balanced with the presence of spinners. The WTC title match between India and New Zealand will be played at the Hampshire Bowl here from Friday.

Chappell said, this fight is for the fast bowlers. India and New Zealand have a strong fast bowling attack. India is more balanced as they have better spinners and with an all-rounder like Ravindra Jadeja, they will have the option of playing more than one spinner.

Former Sri Lanka captain Mahela Jayawardene also supported India. Jayawardene said, “The fight to make the top two was tough. India and New Zealand teams are balanced and both have the best bowling attack considering the final match. I see the Indian team a little more ahead, but the New Zealand team is also not one to give up.

Former Australia spin bowler Shane Warne said, ‘New Zealand’s team deserved to reach the final. He played excellent cricket in the last two years. However, I will support India as there are more match-winners in this team. However, New Zealand cannot be ignored and they too can easily win the match.

Chappell said, “I am excited to see Rishabh Pant perform as well. He is a cricketer who has improved a lot. It will be interesting to see which team will prevail.

Former England captains Michael Vaughan and Alastair Cook believe that New Zealand, capable of playing disciplined cricket for a long time and adapted to the conditions in England, will win the World Test Championship final against India.

Vaughan said, ‘I think New Zealand will win. I know that speaking against India will bring me embarrassment on social media. But looking at New Zealand’s performance in the last two Tests against England, I think so. I love every aspect of his game.

Cook said, ‘New Zealand will win. After the victory over England, they are ahead in the matter of match preparation. Apart from this, they have adapted to play in the conditions of England.
