Shimla: Their voice started cracking, as emotion began to overtake the crowd. The wound is too deep to endure. They wanted to share their feelings with those of Moosewala’s family members. The sounds of bullets that shook the world on that fateful day will return again and again. Yet that would not drown the voice of the young man who would always enchant his fans.
Donning T-shirts with pictures of Moosewala printed on them with the message ‘Legends Never Die’, some of the fans gathered to attend the ‘bhog’ ceremony of the singer.
Moosewala’s father Balkaur Singh said, “Today it was my son, tomorrow it could be yours… I am yet to understand what was Sidhu’s fault that he had to pay with his life.”
The huge gathering made Singh emotional. He said that Sidhu’s fans wiped his tears and that he and his wife would lead a new life now. He related the story of how he used to take Sidhu to school, 24km from home, on a bicycle. Balkaur Singh said, “On the day he was shot dead, I told Sidhu that I would go with him. When he left the house to meet his ‘Massi’ (maternal aunt), he told me that his clothes were not appropriate for the occasion and that he would be back soon.”

The government curtailed the security of Moosewala whose body was riddled with bullets in Moosa village. Condoling the demise of Moosewala, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said the demise of the young singer was a huge and irreparable loss for the family and fans. In a condolence message that was handed over to the aggrieved family by Cabinet minister Baljeet Kaur on behalf of Chief Minister, the Chief Minister said the untimely and tragic demise of the young artist has given shock to his fans spread across the globe. On the surface, much of the tribute of the people was in praise of the singer. But the words contained anguish, as they could not appreciate the reasons for curtailing his security.
