After taking the oath, Dhami greeted and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In a tweet, PM Modi congratulated Dhami for becoming the CM a second time.

He tweeted, “In the last 5 years, Devbhoomi has made rapid progress in every field. I am sure that you and all your ministers will give further impetus to it, setting a new paradigm of development according to the aspirations of the people.”

Eight cabinet ministers also took the oath of office at the event with Dhami. The ministers are Satpal Maharaj, Prem Chand Aggarwal, Ganesh Joshi, Dhan Singh Rawat, Subodh Uniyal, Chandan Ram Das, Saurabh Bahuguna and Rekha Arya. As per reports, Ritu Khanduri may be selected as the speaker in the assembly.

After taking the oath, Dhami spoke to reporters and said that tomorrow, first cabinet meeting will be held. He also said that this decade will be for progress of Uttarakhand. He spoke of his government’s commitment to ensure all round development of the state and it’s people.

Dhami lost his seat in the assembly elections and yet he has been made the leader of the party. This decision may primarily have been based on the performance of the party in the elections. BJP won 47 out of the 70 seats and emerged as a majority party. The success can be attributed to Dhami’s work who became the CM in July 2021 and was on the post for seven months before the elections.
