NewDelhi: All the speculations about CM Pushkar Singh Dhami’s by-election seat come to an end in Uttarakhand. It has been confirmed in the political corridors of Uttarakhand that CM Dhami is going to contest the by-election from the Champawat seat. The MLA from Champawat assembly constituency, Kailash Gahatodi, who won his seat for the second time, is sacrificing it for CM Dhami. This time, the responsibility of Gahatodi, who won by more than 5000 votes, will be rewarded for sacrificing the seat, it is not clear yet, but it has been decided when he will leave this seat.

Gehtori said that he would reach the assembly building on Thursday and submit his resignation to the Speaker. After resigning, Gehtori will present his point of view by holding a press conference in the assembly itself. Earlier, Gehtori reached Dehradun on Tuesday night, where after meeting CM Dhami, he also formally informed about his plan to the party’s general secretary organization Ajey Kumar. Kumar also confirmed this.

Why Dhami chose Champawat seat?

Champawat seat was considered favorable for Dhami on the basis of caste equations. There are about 54 percent Thakur voters, 24 percent Brahmins, 18 percent Dalits and four percent Muslim voters. The second Champawat is attached to the traditional Khatima seat of Dhami, so he is also familiar with the political, caste and regional equations here. For all such reasons, this seat is considered among Dhami’s favorite and safe seats.

When will by-elections be held in Champawat?

It is believed that Dhami wants to go to the by-election as soon as possible. After the Speaker of the Assembly receives Gehtori’s resignation, the Assembly Secretariat will inform the Election Commission about a seat being vacant. After this the commission will prepare for the by-election. It is believed that the by-election can be held by June. It is worth mentioning that Dhami has become the Chief Minister even after losing the election from his assembly Khatima, so he has to ensure assembly membership by winning the by-election.
