A shocking murder case has come to light in Rajasthan’s Jaipur, where a 23-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly planning the murder of her own mother to gain control of family property and get a government job.
According to police, Ayushi Sharma conspired with her uncle and cousin and hired contract killers for Rs 7 lakh. The accused allegedly planned to make the murder look like a road accident.
The victim, 45-year-old Neeraj Sharma, worked as a lower division clerk (LDC) in a court. On July 3, she was returning home after dropping her son at a coaching centre when a Scorpio SUV, reportedly travelling at around 130 kmph, hit her in Jaipur’s Pratap Nagar area. The impact threw her nearly 100 feet, and she died on the spot. The driver fled immediately after the incident.
Police first treated the case as a road accident. However, CCTV footage and further investigation suggested that the crash was planned. Investigators later uncovered an alleged conspiracy involving family members and hired attackers.
Police said Neeraj’s husband had died about a year ago. After his death, she received a compassionate government job as an LDC. According to investigators, Ayushi wanted that job herself but her mother accepted the appointment. Police also said there had been a property dispute between the mother and daughter for the past two to three years.
According to the investigation, Ayushi, along with her uncle Mohan Swaroop and cousin Balram alias Ravi, allegedly hired Bharatpur resident Hemant Sharma to carry out the murder for Rs 7 lakh.
Police said the accused first used a rented Thar SUV to keep watch on Neeraj but could not execute the plan. They then tracked her movements for nearly a month before carrying out the attack using a Scorpio SUV.
Investigators said the accused closely monitored Neeraj’s location on the day of the incident. Mohit Sharma allegedly shared her location, Rohit Jatav waited nearby on a motorcycle, while Akash Sharma was driving the Scorpio and Arvind Sharma was with him when the vehicle hit Neeraj. After the incident, they abandoned the SUV and escaped on a motorcycle.
The case was reported by Neeraj’s brother, Rakesh Kumar Sharma. He told police that Neeraj had earlier complained about harassment from her daughter, relatives and cousin over property issues. He also claimed that she had received death threats several times.
During questioning, police said Ayushi admitted that she wanted the government job that became available after her father’s death. Investigators believe she planned the murder to gain both the job and the family property.
So far, police have arrested Ayushi Sharma, Mohan Swaroop, Mohit Sharma, Akash Sharma, Arvind Sharma, Hemant Sharma and Rohit Jatav. Another accused, Balram alias Ravi, is still absconding. The investigation is ongoing.
