News Desk – The Yamuna River in Delhi is flowing above the danger mark, flooding several parts of the city and even entering some relief camps. At the Loha Pul (Old Railway Bridge), the water level was recorded at 207.48 metres on Thursday morning.
Low-lying areas like Yamuna Bazar and Monastery Market remain submerged, with shopkeepers moving stock to avoid damage. Some residents are still trapped in nearby colonies. Relief camps near Mayur Vihar Phase-1 have also been flooded, and visuals show vehicles, buildings, and staircases underwater in Civil Lines.
Incessant rain over the past days caused a portion of the NH-44 flyover under Alipur police station to cave in. Severe waterlogging has hit various areas, while floodwaters forced the closure of Nigambodh Ghat cremation ground. The Geeta Colony crematorium is also flooded but continues operations.
Authorities have shifted over 10,000 people from vulnerable areas to tents or permanent shelters. Meanwhile, the IMD has forecast thunderstorms with rain for Thursday and moderate rain on Friday.
