NationalProtests Intensify Over Ahmedabad School Murder; Parents, Students Demand Closure

Date:

News Desk – Protests over the murder of a Class 10 student at a private school in Ahmedabad continued on Friday, with the Congress’s student wing accusing authorities of negligence and demanding the school’s closure.

Students and parents of Seventh Day Adventist School joined the protest, holding placards and alleging frequent thefts, fights, and arguments on campus. They claimed the school ignored repeated complaints.

The anger follows Thursday’s violent incident, when a mob vandalised the school and assaulted staff after Nayan Santani, a Class 10 student, was stabbed by a Class 8 junior during a minor argument on Tuesday.

On Friday, the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) staged large protests, trying to enter the school premises and clashing with police. Several members were detained. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad also demonstrated, and around 200 schools in Maninagar, Khokhara, and Isanpur remained shut as part of a bandh call.

Parents demanded strict punishment for the accused, blaming the school for failing to act. The school has not responded to the allegations.

According to CCTV footage, the attack happened outside the school building after hours. The accused was caught by a security guard while trying to flee. The victim’s family alleged the school delayed calling an ambulance and even summoned a water tanker to wash away blood stains, possibly to destroy evidence.

Police have registered an FIR, detained the accused, and booked over 500 people for vandalism, rioting, and assault. Meanwhile, Instagram chats between the accused and a friend in which he admitted to the killing and was advised to “go underground” have gone viral.
