Lucknow: The mental health and intelligence quotient of the students of Uttar Pradesh government-run schools will be assessed, official sources said on Thursday. This will help the students perform better and the government address the issues of primary and secondary students.

The Bureau of Psychology in Prayagraj district of the state has prepared a set of questions. The paper contains 48 questions with five optional answers – agree, disagree, neutral, strongly agree and strongly disagree.

The teachers will take the students’ responses and send them back to Prayagraj. The psychologists will assess their answers and make a report accordingly.

According to Usha Chandra, director of the Bureau of psychology Uttar Pradesh, the aim of such assessment is to ensure that the students in primary and secondary school perform well in their classes and during their examinations.

Experts have prepared a questionnaire to assess the mental health and intelligence quotient of students of council school, she said, adding that the bureau would also find if students were facing any problems.

The Bureau of Psychology has sent the draft questions to the basic education officers of all 75 districts across the state, she said.

Initially, the exercise will be carried out in 150 schools in every district. After that, an exercise will be carried out to improve the learning skills of students.

A special will also be prepared to ensure that the academically weaker children are on a par with other students, the official said, adding that the data of mental assessment would be confidential.
