Jabalpur: A police constable was suspended for thrashing an elderly person at the Jabalpur railway station on Wednesday, sources said on Friday. The decision to suspended the cop came after a video of the incident of thrashing went viral on social media. The video showed a police constable brutally beating and dragging an elderly person identified as Gopal Prasad. The policeman’s name is Anant Sharma.

The video shots of the incident were taken from inside a train. Sharma also beat up Prasad with a belt and kicked him, but nobody intervened to stop him. When the video went viral, the police spoke to the vendors of the railway station, who confirmed the incident.
