Indore: Two persons have been taken into custody in connection with a letter that threatened to engineer blasts if Rahul Gandhi’s Yatra made a scheduled halt at the Khalsa stadium on November 28. According to Home Minister Narottam Mishra, two suspects have been taken into custody and five others have been identified.

To arrest those culprits, a team of cops has gone to Haryana, he said.

The letter consisting of abusive words referred to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots and threatened to assassinate Rahul Gandhi and president of the Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee Kamal Nath.

An FIR was registered against some unidentified culprits on Friday after the letter had surfaced on Thursday. Mishra told reporters that two suspects had been detained for interrogation. The letter was received at a sweets shop in Juni area of Indore city on Thursday evening. Nath’s felicitation at a the Khalsa Stadium in Indore on Guru Nanak Jayanti kicked up a controversy because of his alleged role in anti-Sikh riots after the assassination of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The Yatra which is in Maharashtra will enter Madhya Pradesh through Burhanpur on November 20.
