Tech Desk – Facebook parent Meta is reportedly planning to slash thousands of employees this week, just like Twitter. However, the has roughly 87,000 employees and the layoff process at Meta begin on November 9. According to the report, the company would focus on “investments on a small number of high priority growth areas” without confirming the firings.

CEO Mark Zuckerberg told employees in a meeting that there are a “bunch of people at the company who shouldn’t be here.” And even said that he is “okay” if workers think they don’t belong at Meta.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Meta might cut expenses by at least 10 percent through the layoff process. The company blamed macroeconomic situations for the fall in revenue.

If Meta fires thousands of employees, then this move will echo Twitter’s decision to fire almost half of its employees. Elon Musk already fired top executives and laid off roughly 3500 people.
