Mumbai: The wife of Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut, Varsha Raut, reached the office of the Enforcement Directorate where the officials are set to grill her, sources said. Sanjay Raut is already in ED custody in connection with Patra Chawl money laundering case. The Ed officials issued summons to her on Thursday. The officials may quiz her along with Sanjay Raut to verify certain bank transactions.

Nearly four officers, including a woman, are present during the interrogation. She is the first woman to face the investigators in the Patra Chawl case. According to sources, the inquiry into the case got an impetus after Maha Vikas Aghadi government led by chief minister Uddhav Thackeray fell on June 29. Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray met the family members of Raut and expressed his solidarity with them. Nevertheless, Sanjay Raut who denied doing anything wrong said that the ED was being used to silence the opposition.
