Jaunpur (UP): The court of additional district and session judge has found a former Member of Parliament (MP) Umakant Yadav and seven others guilty of a murder case that took place 27 years ago, sources said on Saturday. The court said that seven persons included three constables of Government Railway Police (GRP) and reserved the verdict for Monday.

According to reports, two constables Ajay Singh and Lallan Singh, with other persons, were killed during a cross fire. The incident took place when they were trying to free a man called Rajkumar Yadav from the GRP lockup. There were allegations in the FIR lodged in connection with the incident that Umakant Yadav, with his supporters armed with pistols and rifles, reached the GRP outpost and began to fire.
