NationalPartha Chatterjee denied special treatment in prison

Kolkata: The authorities of Presidency Central Correctional Home, where former West Bengal minister and Trinamool Congress leader Partha Chatterjee has been lodged since Friday, have denied him any special treatment. The officials of the Enforcement Directorate arrested Chatterjee in connection with the West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) recruitment scam.

At present, he is in cell number two of the number 22 in the correctrional home. Another accused in the scam Arpita Mukherjee, a close aide of Chatterjee, has been lodged in Alipore Women Correctional Home. The prison authorities have, however, shown some sympathy to her. According to prison sources, there is no cot or chair in the cell which is fitted with a ceiling fan. He has been given two blankets as are given to other inmates. But Mukherjee has been provided with a bigger room than and one given to Chatterjee.
