Agra (UP): Two women from Uzbekistan have been arrested, as they failed to produce a visa and an original passport, the police said on Monday. The two women had fake Aadhaar cards containing the address of south Delhi, and they were staying in a hotel at Tajganj area of Agra district in Uttar Pradesh. The police further said that they had seized Rs 33, 000 and two mobile phones from their possession.

The police registered an FIR against those women under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and under the Foreigners Act, 1946. According to station house officer of Tajganj Bhupendra Baliyan, the two foreign nationals were carrying Aadhaar cards. Photographs of their passports were found in their mobile phones, which indicated that they are from Uzbekistan.

The Delhi police have been asked to verify their address mentioned in the Aadhaar cards, Baliyan said. According to the complaint lodged by sub-inspector Yogesh Kumar, the two women who had checked in the hotel on Saturday provided Aadhaar cards to get a room. The FIR was registered against the woman on the grounds of Yogesh Kumar’s complaint, the police said.
