Lucknow (UP): The chairman of Gosainganj Nagar Panchayat in Lucknow, capital of Uttar Pradesh and his assistants have been booked in connection with a murder, sources said on Sunday. The murder was committed in March this year. According to the FIR, the accused Nikhil Mishra aka Tonti Maharaj and his accomplices had attacked a youth Vikas Kanaujia of the Gosainganj area in the city on March 25 after a dispute over a petty issue. The youth died on the way to hospital.

Nevertheless, as the post-mortem of Vikas mention suicide as cause of death, the police did not lodge any FIR. Just as Vikas demanded money, Nikhil hurled caste-related abuses at him and beat him up and as his son slumped to the ground, the attackers ran away.

Ram Kumar further said that he had taken his son to a health centre in Gosainganj where the doctors declared him dead, but Nikhil and his men continued to abuse his family.

According to the additional commissioner police, a team will soon be formed to visit the spot of crime.
