In the aftermath of the incident, a major fire broke out in the building where a group of women were preparing prasad for Chhath festival. The incident occurred because the gas cylinder they used to prepare Prasad caught fire that also damaged the adjoining houses.

As soon as locals heard the noise of the explosion, they informed the police who sent fire engines to the spot, a fire official said.
