Kanpur (UP): A 16-year-old girl hanged herself from the ceiling of her house at Kutheer village in Kanpur district of Uttar Pradesh, after her mother scolded her for taking over mobile phone, police said on Sunday. A suicide note was found near her body.

During investigation, it came to light that the girl Sakshi Meena, a student of class 10, spent a lot of time talking over the mobile phone and her mother asked her not to do that. In the suicide note, she urged parents to pardon her, because she did not want to live any longer. The police registered a case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code
