Budaun (UP): As Diwali is around the corner, the government agencies in Uttar Pradesh are out to bust synthetic milk-manufacturing units across the state.

A team comprising policemen and the officials of the Food Safety Department (FSD) raided a synthetic milk-manufacturing unit in Moosajhagh area of Budaun district and dug out 100 litres of synthetic milk prepared with washing powder, refined oil and other spurious chemicals, sources said on Tuesday.

The unit being run from a house used to supply milk to several sweet shops in the village and those located in nearby areas, the police said.

The team also arrested the owner of the unit Mangu after a complaint of the food safety officer (FSO). A team of the FSD also collected samples of milk from various shops and sent them to laboratories.

According to additional superintendent of police (rural), AK Srivastava, a team comprising policemen and officials of the FSD raided a synthetic milk-manufacturing unit in Moosaganj area in the city and took the factory owner into custody.
