A woman, after passing the intermediate examination in March this year, approached former MLA of BSP Haji Iqbal for admission to his Glocal University in Mirzapur area of Uttar Pradesh. Iqbal, however, assured her of arranging for a fake degree. When the girl had gone to Mirzapur for the purpose, the four persons, including two sons of Iqbal, violated her. The sons of Iqbal are already in jail.
Saharanpur: The police in Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh arrested a man for his alleged links with a former legislator of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and mining mafia Haji Iqbal who, along with his three sons were involved in a gangrape, official sources said on Saturday. The man identified as Shahaban was the fourth accused in the case.
The main accused Haji Iqbal is absconding and his two sons are already in jail, the police further said. According to senior superintendent of police (rural) Suraj Rai, a woman from Bhajanpura area of Delhi had on Friday evening filed a complaint of gangrape against three persons Shaban.
According to the complainant, her sister-in-law, after passing the intermediate examination in March this year, approached Haji Iqbal for admission in his Glocal University in Mirzapur area of Uttar Pradesh. Iqbal, however, assured her of arranging a fake degree for her, Rai said, adding that when the girl had gone to Mirzapur, the four persons violated her.
The complainant said that it was Shahban who had assured her sister-in-law of arranging for a fake degree. On the grounds of the complaint of the woman, Shahban was arrested from Chhapparwali Masjid in Mirzapur. The police are searching for Iqbal, he said.
