What is Fault Finding?

Concept of the DayWhat is Fault Finding?

Date:

Fault finding is the habit of criticizing someone or something on a regular basis. Fault finding is also called nagging and typically involves petty things that really don’t need that much attention. You will usually find the habit of fault-finding among men and women who are involved in unreasonable criticism. Such people are so ignorant that they don’t even understand the effects of their fault-finding behavior on others.

Sri Lanka defaults on debt for first time in its history

For example, a woman kept finding faults in her husband’s nature and his mannerisms. In the morning, when he would get up and brush his teeth, she would keep taunting him about how he is using a lot of water for doing such a small activity. Then when he would want to take up breakfast, she would criticize him for eating food without working on anything. In the evening, when he would want to go to a temple or park to get some fresh air and think perspective, she would again keep taunting him who keeps roaming the world with no shame or respect.

NATO summit concludes amid criticisms of bloc’s aggression

This woman’s fault-finding behavior ensured that her marital life didn’t remain successful. When the woman was probed about why she keeps finding faults in her husband who doesn’t back answer all the unreasonable criticisms that she keeps doing throughout the day, she said that she is unable to forget the one mistake that he committed when he was young. His extra-marital affair and leaving behind all his wealth to his relatives is what irked this woman to such an extent that she kept removing her frustrations on her husband for the rest of her life.

It is not that the woman got any sort of satisfaction when she found faults in her husband but it is just that whenever she recollected the mistakes that her husband committed in the earlier times, she would start speaking nonsense to him to remove her anger and resentment that she had bottled up all this while.

Fault-finding can be rectified by reason alone if he decides to give away the habit of looking at things from a negative perspective. In reality, you will find fault-finding behavior quite common among people of all age groups. For example, if you see a child in the mall who is sad and not eating lunch in the food court, you will find out that he is unhappy because his dad didn’t give him the pricey toy that was displayed in the mall. The kid will start blabbering all the faults of his parents and will give you proof of how he feels that his needs aren’t met by his parents.

Fault-finding behavior is also common among managers or bosses or people working at the superior level. They will ensure that they will keep criticizing their colleagues for no good reason. Even if the co-workers or team members try to give their best, they will pinpoint only the shortcomings or only the limitations of not reaching excellence as per their expectations.

Fault-finding personality is also called borderline personality disorder in some reports. It is this mental illness that makes them keep telling some or the other negative thing about others or things in their lives.
