Shahjahanpur: The residents of Jalalabad area in Shahjahanpur district of Uttar Pradesh were shocked on Wednesday when they learnt that a two-day-old baby girl, who was sleeping with her mother, went missing. The incident occurred on Tuesday night when her mother Shanti Devi had gone to the toilet at 4am, the police said.
As soon as she saw her baby missing, she raised an alarm and woke up her husband who lodged an FIR at the police station. The mother and the daughter were sleeping in the veranda of their house. The police registered a case of abduction against unidentified persons.
On hearing her yells, several villagers also rushed to the spot and began a search for the baby. The police, however, ruled out an attack by any wild animal. According to station house officer of Jalalabad, Praveen Solanki, the police have begun an investigation into the case. The culprits will soon be brought to book, he said.
