New Delhi: Chief Minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot is likely to meet party president Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi to explain to her about the happenings in the state where the ruling party is facing a major political problem. He will also speak about what had led to the legislators loyal to him to boycott the meeting of Congress Legislature Party at Jaipur, sources said on Wednesday.
According to sources, Gehlot will remain in Delhi till September 30, the last date for filing nomination for the election to the president of All-India Congress Committee (AICC). The Congress leaders are again pushing the name of Gehlot for the coveted post.
It is expected that the problem will be solved in a day or two. Sachin Pilot, who is facing opposition from the Gehlot camp to his becoming the chief minister, is already in Delhi. Pilot has so far kept away from making any comment on the current political situation in Rajasthan. The Congress issued show-cause notices to Rajasthan Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shanti Dhariwal, party chief whip Mahesh Joshi and Dharmendra Rathore. These leaders were holding a parallel meeting of party legislators in Jaipur. The notices asked the legislators to reply within ten days. Sources further said the party high command had made a plan to handle the situation in Rajasthan.
