New Delhi: The Congress leaders and party workers remembered former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his 78th birth anniversary on Saturday. They said that his single term as Prime Minister transformed India and that it will be remembered as far-reaching achievements, including the IT revolution. Party’s Member of Parliament from Wayanad Rahul Gandhi and its general secretary Priyanka Gandhi visited their fathers’ memorial. The Congress general secretary and in charge of communications Jairam Ramesh said that his single term as Prime Minister would be remembered for numerous landmarks. It was Rajiv Gandhi who brough computer, telecom and software revolution in the country, Ramesh said.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and general secretary of the Party KC Venugopal also paid tributes to the former Prime Minister. Rajiv Gandhi, the youngest Prime Minister of India, who held office from 1984 to 89, was assassinated by a suicide bomber of the Liberation of Tamil Tiger Eelam in 1991.
