Dhanteras is celebrated on 2 November this year. Dhanteras, also known as Dhantrayodashi will be observed from 5.42 PM to 7.31 PM this year. The five-day long festival of Diwali starts with Dhanteras. It is thought that in the ocean churning, which is also called Samudra Manthan, Goddess Lakshmi came out of the ocean on Dhanteras day. Thus, Lord Kubera and Goddess Lakshmi are worshipped on this special day of Trayodashi.
